“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about.” Rumi.
Meet me in the field
that has no fence,
where the sky ponies graze,
above the earth
and beyond the heavens
Here we can speak
of all the things we keep hidden
as we lay in the grass
holding hands
Here our secrets shine and spin
then burn out,
their powers spent
Here our truths seed the prairie
that grows and blooms
beyond all sight
Here we are safe
Here we are sacred

From the field with no fence to the prairie seeded with truth, this is gorgeous Mary!
ReplyDeleteMary, Mary ... (not contrary) sorry had to say. This is a lovely poem illustrating the feel and emotion of the art perfectly. I would love to sneak onto that prairie.
ReplyDeleteOh, but this is lovely.......the sky ponies.....the sharing of deep truths that seed the prairies. Just wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved the Rumi quote and the field between rightdoing and wrongdoing. You've woven a beautiful poem about it. Bravo, my friend.
ReplyDeleteVery very nice.
ReplyDeleteA field with no fence is a place of freedom.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteField with no fence and Horse with no name? (I love that song)
ReplyDeleteMay we take my green blanket is we come, or is blue required?
Lovely poem, Mary, makes me quiver.
..
The connection between the image, the Rumi quote, and your poem, is brilliant. Your pivotal stanza - "Here our secrets shine and spin
ReplyDelete|then burn out,|their powers spent" - is captivating with intent. Once our secrets are outed they lose their power. Well done.
I love the sacred space you describe. I can't think of any bonding more sacred. Reminds me of a dream world but not one of shadows.
