Acolytes roam through the city
looking for pure souls
and
saucers of milk
It’s
nearly time for the rapture
and all
the worthy
are
gathered in the street
That’s
right, suckers,
cats
rule
and dogs
and humans…
well, you know.
This is for The Sunday Muse, where Carrie provided this delightful picture to write about.
P.S. I'm not pleased with the title of this, but finally wanted to post while it was still Sunday! Any suggestions?
Cats rule for sure! Love this Mary! I like the title, but my idea would be, "pure souls and saucers of milk" Also, the link on the Muse is not coming here you may want to re link. After you do I will delete the wrong one.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carrie. And I'm not sure why the first link didn't work, but I've tried it again.
DeleteNo worries...and you are very welcome. It has happened to me before. I will go in in a bit and delete the other link.
Delete"pure souls
ReplyDeleteand saucers of milk"
Interesting combination
Thanks for dropping by to read mine
Much❤love
Well, I was trying for incongruous things there, lol. Thanks, and much love to you as well. :)
DeleteSurprise, surprize!!! Mary, I was just reading about the antichrist and his followers, they are to be tricky also.
ReplyDeleteThis fit right in. Your title is fine with me, it sounds like a warning to expect the unexpected.
..
I reached you by going to your profile, the link here takes us back to the "Sunday Muse" Web page.
DeleteSorry to have to tell you.
..
Thank you Jim for your comment, and for letting me know about the faulty link. I think I've fixed it now. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI like it, title and all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sherry! :)
DeleteDear Other Mary, I loved your poem. Reminds me of a feline version of "The Leftovers" a tv series I got totally hooked on a few years back.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Helen. I'll have to see if I can find that show.
Delete"Pure Souls and Saucers Of Milk" - that would be a wonderful title for this poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara. That seems to be the consensus. :)
ReplyDeleteMy Zeus would disagree.... but a fascinating thought. I’m sure cat-lovers will hail you. Makes me think though.... Good one!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vivian! I have a dog too, and he’s with you and Zeus!
DeleteI would use a pun for the title, and then go to your room!
ReplyDeletePurrrfect!
DeleteYikes. And yet I can't help grinning...
ReplyDelete"looking for pure souls / and saucers of milk" - wonderful. And this: "It’s nearly time for the rapture". Fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks much, q.
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "And some sardines, please!"
ReplyDeleteHahaha - hey Charlee! Sardines for you, of course!
